Most high-end laptops combine performance and stylish design to look and feel like the device of your dreams. An LED-backlit keyboard and a steel case with the iconic logo are just as appealing to buyers as ample RAM and a high-resolution screen.
However, not everyone would call the most expensive laptop ever made beautiful. As one Reddit user put it, "I'd call it tasteless trash." Take a look at this striking example of luxury, sparkling with Swarovski crystals and real diamonds, and decide for yourself whether you'd buy one.
MJ Brilliant Limited Edition
The MJ Laptop Brilliant Limited Edition (aka MJ's Swarovski and Diamond-Intudded Notebook), encrusted with white and black diamonds, is priced at $3,520,660. It debuted in 2010 as part of MJ's Art House 777 line of luxury electronics and has since become the standard for luxury laptops.
The 777 lineup placed a special emphasis on notebooks and accessories whose casings were decorated and/or crafted from rare and valuable materials such as alligator leather, diamonds, and Swarovski crystals.
The Brilliant Limited Edition came with a designer case and a gold-plated mouse.
Because MJ works with clients individually, a customer can't simply place one of the company's laptops in a digital shopping cart and enter their credit card information online. MJ Art House doesn't even list prices in its online catalogs.
The company specializes in luxury goods, and despite the high price of the Brilliant Limited Edition, you can end up paying even more to get the options you want. Want your family crest, initials, or company logo encrusted with diamonds instead of the letters "MJ"? Just ask, and Art House will give you a price. Prices for such embellishments range from $500 to $5 million. And that's not to mention the matching accessories. This includes everything from keychains and briefcases to bejeweled mice and flash drives.
Characteristics
MJ creations are custom-made to suit the needs of each individual customer. Even in limited editions, each product may differ from its "colleague." Therefore, there are no specific specifications for the "diamond laptop." It can only be compared to other MJ models released in 2010. They were equipped with hard drives ranging from 3 to 1000 TB and Blu-ray and HD DVD drives.
Competitors
The second most expensive laptop is the 10.2-inch Samsung NC10-14GB. It costs $1.34 million, not because of its premium materials or even its ultra-fancy hardware, but because it's infected with viruses. That's right, the laptop is home to six of the most expensive viruses, including ILOVEYOU, which attacked millions of computers in 2000, and WannaCry, the ransomware that disabled computers in hospitals and factories around the world in 2017 and was blamed on North Korea.
Together, these six viruses caused $95 billion in damage to computer users worldwide.
The top three most expensive laptops for 2023 are occupied by a luxury laptop priced at $1 million from British company Luvaglio. It features a 17-inch display, a 128GB SSD, and a Blu-ray drive.
The power button of this device is made of a rare diamond, and the rest of the finish is up to the buyer's discretion. The company arranges a meeting with the Luvaglio director, who will help the customer choose the case design and materials. The company's designers offer a choice of various precious metals, several types of leather, and even wood for the laptop's case.
