This collection contains Marshak's most famous and beloved poems dedicated to children.

Baggage

These are the things the little girl took with her on her journey: A doll with a rosy cheek, And a ball like an apple. A gray bunny, barely alive, And a book with a bright new fairy tale, And a pencil, and a pie, And a dress with a smooth frill. And most importantly, take with you Not fuss, not evil words, But joy, laughter and mischief, And a kind look, which is more heartfelt than all.

This is how absent-minded he is

What a absent-minded neighbor we had! He forgot to put the portrait on his feet. He put the portrait on his friends' noses, and went for a walk with them through the fields. But when he came home again, he forgot to put his jacket on!

Kindergarten

In our kindergarten, there's so much fun! The squirrel is jumping around, and the little hedgehog is hiding. The little gray hare is hearing a faithful voice, and the little fox is drinking water from a cup. All the kids are together, we need to live together! Sing songs together, dare to play games together!

Mail

I'm a postman, I'm a good girl! I carry letters to everyone, everyone, everyone! Here's a letter for mom, here's a letter for dad, and here's one for grandma, so she doesn't get bored! I run, I hurry, I don't stand still, I don't breathe! I deliver letters to everyone, everyone, everyone!

Whistle

Whistle, Whistle, Where have you been? Sitting on a bench, Looking at the kids. Whistle, Whistle, What did you take? A loaf of bread, With a box, She took it. Whistle, Whistle, Give it to me too! I'll share with you doubly!

Mustachioed and striped

The mustachioed and striped one walked through the courtyards, climbed onto the stove, and began to sing songs. He loves milk, and a fish from the hand, and sleeping in the sun, and affection from the hand. Guess who this is? Look at the stripes! A mischievous kitten, our friend, whom we all love!

Mouse

A little mouse lives in a hole. Quietly rustles, gnawing on grains. The cat hunts after her, her tail trembling. But the mouse is cunning, she runs into the hole! Such a mouse, a little animal, lives in our house, and gives us laughter!

Winter's Tale

Fluffy white snow fell to the ground. Everything around fell silent, turning into a fairy tale. Frost on the trees, patterns in the windows. Children are building a snowman, joyful eyes. Winter is a time of miracles, and winter fun. Sledding, and building a hut!

Summer day

The sun is shining brightly, the birds are singing loudly. The ears of corn are ripening in the fields, the children are running merrily. They are splashing in the river, the butterflies are circling in the grass. Summer is a time of joy and sunshine. We are picking berries and mushrooms in the forest. Summer is a fairy tale, bright and beautiful!

Autumn leaf fall

Yellow leaves swirl, quietly falling to the ground. A mischievous autumn wind rips leaves from the dense crowns. Children gather bouquets of bright, golden leaves. Autumn is a time of quiet melancholy and delicate, radiant colors. In the park, leaves rustle underfoot, and the scent of apples and smoke fills the air. Autumn is a time of farewell to warm, beloved summer.

Spring streams

The babbling streams flow, melting the spring snow. The sun warms the earth, the first flowers have burst forth. Birds return from the south, building nests and singing songs. Spring is a time of awakening, of new life and shelter. Everything around rejoices and rejoices, in warmth, light, and love. Spring is a time of hope, and bright, radiant newness.

Toys

The doll sleeps, the bear is silent, the bunny has pressed his ears. Only the ball bounces merrily, and makes a loud noise. Toys are our friends, it's fun to play with them. Together we build cities, and make up fairy tales. Take care of your toys, they are so dear to you. With them you feel joy and comfort, in the world of childhood dreams.

boat

I made a boat, out of simple paper. I put my dear friend Mishka in it. And I set it sailing across a puddle, into the distance, into the open. My little boat, brave as a captain! It sails, rocks, facing the wind. And the boat dreams of the distant end of the world.

Book

Here the book opens, Bright pictures. There are animals and birds, And fairy-tale wonders. In the book there are stories, About brave heroes. About kind wizards, And about distant lands. I love to read, And dream in a book. After all, a book is my friend, And a circle of knowledge!

Evening lullaby

Sleep, my little friend, Close your eyes. Dream a dream, Of magical fairy tales. It's dark and quiet outside, The stars are shining in the sky. Angels are rocking you, And protecting you from harm. Sleep, my dear, sleep peacefully, May you dream of a miracle. And you will wake up happy, Joyful and all around!
