The first generation of the Skoda Rapid compact sedan was launched in 2012. The manufacturer emphasized high build quality coupled with an attractive price, which ultimately earned the model well-deserved popularity.
A minor restyling in 2017 made the Rapid even more dynamic, comfortable, and safe. The cars are available in petrol and diesel versions with 1.0, 1.2, 1.4, and 1.6-liter engines of varying power outputs, but interestingly, they are equipped with identical batteries, significantly simplifying the selection of a new one.
Skoda Rapid battery factory specifications

Skoda Rapid vehicles are equipped with factory-installed batteries manufactured by VAG (Germany). When selecting an alternative to the factory battery, it is important to adhere to the manufacturer's specifications, based on the following characteristics:
- Dimensions The standard battery size for the Skoda Rapid is 242 x 175 x 190 mm. This is the most common battery size for modern cars, allowing you to choose a model for both budget and premium models.
- Polarity – reverse ("+" on the right). Contrary to popular belief, a battery can be installed with either polarity, but only if the wires are long enough to connect the battery to the vehicle's electrical system.
- Capacity – Nominal capacity values range from 55 to 62 Ah, which is optimal for gasoline models. For diesel engines, it's best to choose a capacity of 65 Ah or higher, especially if the vehicle is operated in colder regions.
- Inrush current – nominal cold cranking current values can vary from 420 to 680 Amperes, depending on engine power; these values are quite sufficient for starting the engine at sub-zero temperatures.
Battery type – which one to choose?

Every car owner wants a battery that will last a long time. This depends on the individual—you can choose from classic WET batteries to modern EFB and AGM battery types. It's recommended to choose a battery based on the vehicle's usage. For intensive use and high daily mileage, a calcium (Ca-Ca) battery, which has a high energy capacity and efficiency, is best. For occasional trips, a lead-acid EFB battery, which is resistant to self-discharge, is the best choice.
