But some people take their love of nails too far. And I think you'll agree after looking at videos and photos of the longest nails in the world.<\/p>\n

In 2018, Guinness World Records officially recognized Ayanna as the holder of the world record for "longest fingernails on a pair of (female) hands" after measuring their combined length at 576.4 cm (18 ft 10.9 in). She broke the previous titleholder, Chris Walton, whose combined length was 731.4 cm (23 ft 11 in). However, Walton had trimmed her nails since her previous measurement.<\/p>\n

In an interview with the Daily Mail, the owner of the longest fingernails admitted that painting her nails can take up to a week. And even simple tasks, like buttoning jeans, become torture. But what won't you do for fame?.<\/p>\n

Williams uses a brush and antibacterial soap to clean her fingers daily, and also applies hardener and acrylic to prevent breakage of her nails.<\/p>\n

For Williams, growing her nails isn't just a quest for recognition, but also a way to prove to her children that "anything they want to achieve can be done.".<\/p>\n

<\/span>2. Lee Redmond<\/h2>\n

This elderly lady from Salt Lake City spent 30 years getting her nails done. She held the Guinness World Record for the longest nails. However, in 2009, Redmond was in a car accident, which caused her nails to break.<\/p>\n

\u00ab"Losing my nails was the most dramatic thing that happened in my life," Lee admitted in an interview.<\/p>\n

Redmond also stated that she has no plans to grow her nails out, as she doesn't believe she has another three decades left to do so. Looking at the positive aspects of losing her enormous nails, Redmond acknowledged that it has made it easier for her to perform everyday tasks.<\/p>\n

<\/span>1. Sridhar Chillal<\/h2>\n

Until the summer of 2018, the title of "person with the longest nails" belonged to an Indian man. When you add up the length of each nail on Sridhar's left hand, their total length is almost 10 meters (or about the length of two cars)!<\/p>\n

The man stopped trimming the nails on his left hand in 1952 and grew them for over 60 years. And it wasn't easy, physically. Chillal couldn't sleep properly; he had to get up every half hour to move his hand to the other side of the bed, as his nails were extremely brittle.<\/p>\n

He also had great difficulty finding steady work. Who wants to hire someone who can only use one hand? However, Chillal's unusual choice didn't stop him from getting married and having two children.<\/p>\n

Finally, after 66 years, Sridhar Chillal, who turned 82, finally cut his nails at a special ceremony in New York City. If you're ever in the city, you can see his nails at the Robert Ripley's Believe It or Not! exhibit.\u00ab<\/p>\n

\"MelvinUntil 2009, the record holder for the longest nails was American Melvin Booth. This former military man carefully maintained his 9.85-meter-long nails throughout his life, enjoying the attention and shock of those around him.<\/p>\n

He even once met Lee Redmond, another "extreme nail wearer." The two took a short stroll, carefully and with considerable effort carrying their treasures. Curiously, Redmond's nails were straight, while Booth's were heavily curled, resembling spirals.<\/p>\n

In 2009, 61-year-old Bout died.<\/p>\n
